Paira Daiza

My goal for the fall is to try to get out and about every weekend...or almost every weekend..to explore Belgium. There is a ton to do and explore all within an hour or 2 of Waterloo. So last weekend we headed out to Paira Daiza... Un Jardin des Mondes! This place is incredible! So different from any 'zoo' I have ever been to. Many of the animals are set in their own natural environment and you can get up close and personal with them...something the US would never do because of lawsuits I am sure.
Paira Daiza is located near Mons/SHAPE (a US military base) south of Brussels. And although the road signs had us going in circles to find the place...not to mention if you look on the iphone map it says it's 'permanently closed', we finally made our way to this lovely place. It's HUGE! We could have spent way more time there but we had plans for the evening so we didn't close the place down ;o0
So here is a snip-it of our adventure.

like mother like daughter...Bella packed a backpack with her doll, a snack for daddy, herself and Amelia and a bottle of water. I was very proud of her!!

notice there is nothing between Bella and the kangaroos behind her...
